Today is my first birthday in ten years without Wendy in my life. Yuck. I think that we first became close when we found out that we shared a birthday. I remember the moment clearly: we were at Chili's with the HPUMC youth group. I was probably 13 so she was about 12. For some reason, that cemented a bond between us. She always called me her "birthday bud" and I called her the same. Whenever we liked the same guy, which happened with frightening regularity, she'd say, it's January 12th! Elizabeth Duffy is coming to New York tonight, and we're going to do something crazy in honor of Wendy. We thought tha tthe play, Naked Boys Singing, would be perfect, since it involved two of Wendy's favorite subjects, boys and nudity, but tickets were too expensive. We'll figure something out. I miss you and love you Senorita Wendita. I know you're blowing out your candles somewhere too.
