I am getting married next week to Monty Markland (St. Marks '96) and Wendy would be SO excited about it. She used to come over to Monty's apartment in Austin when we first started dating (summer of 98')and I remember she was in total shock about the whole thing. She would keep saying "I can't believe you and Monty are together!! It's just so weird!" I guess this came from the fact that the two of us were soooo different in highschool. Yet later that year when we got engaged she was thrilled and couldn't wait for the weddding. Every holiday when I would see her she would ask very insistently when it was going to be. I think she still had a little bit of disbelief in her! I came across a picture of us from that summer which made me laugh so hard. It is a shot of a group of us sitting around in a circle on Monty's living room floor playing poker. It must have been from the end of summer because there is no furniture (I think it had been reposessed or something) in the entire place and we are spread out on blankets with our margaritas and bud lights. There are two guitars and several paks of Marlboroughs scattered across the empty floor and a huge roll of paper towels which wouldn't have made much of a difference. Everyone is wearing a hat and sunglasses and we do not have a care in the world. You know we didn't do anything else for the rest of the day. I loved that summer.
