On the day of rejoicing in the Torah (Simchat Torah), the disciples of the Roptchitzer rebbe (teacher) were dancing ecstatically. Suddenly the rebbe raised his arms, and his face contorted with pain and grief. A hush fell over the madly dancing Chassidim. A moment later the rebbe cried out, "Does the army stop the struggle when a general dies? Keep dancing!" And so they did. Later they learned that the Karmarner rebbe, a great tzaddik (a fully enlightened being) and friend of their teacher, had died at that moment many hundreds of miles away. We must not stop the dance.
Wendy danced her life with all her heart. She is still dancing.
