Beth, Gene and Karen,
I've been meaning to post a note to you all on this wonderful "Wendy Site" since I came home from Dallas after the service, sorry it's taken so long. I don't think I have ever been through a more moving day. Laughter and tears all at once.
Beth, I remember you always saying, "If I can do as well as Jo and Jerry did raising you, I'll be doing well", Beth I'm here to say I think you surpassed your expectations. Wow, what a girl! I don't think I could hold a candle to her!!! How lucky you were to share her with so many that were touched by her charm, love, wit, and caring way.
On the plane on the way to Dallas I sat and thought of Wendy, when was the last time I really saw her, what did we talk about? Most of my memories are of Wendy the sweet child, always loving, caring about what her big sister was doing, and how Dad used to intrigue her for hours making silly newspaper trees. (don't know what I would have done those babysitting weekends with the girls without Dad and his trees, not that they were ever trouble!) Sitting at the service and listening to Wendy's friends speak so eloquently about her, some one mentioned the "Wendy Hug" and it hit me...The last time I saw Wendy was at mom's funeral, she came over to the house, and without saying a word, came up to me, wrapped her arms around me and gave me the best hug I could imagine. The warmth and comfort from that one hug just struck me at the time, how can this young girl know such empathy.
We are all sad at the turn of events, there is nothing good to be said. But how lucky we are to have known such a person, and how proud you all are to have created her.
I love you all and think of you every day. You mean so much to me, and I want you to know.
