To all who visit here this weekend (I have tried to write this for 2 days). Thank you for thinking about Wendy. It is impossible to put into words today all that we are thinking, feeling, remembering…we are just trying to get through this as each and every one of you are trying to do too. Karen and Jessica will have a Halloween party here tonight as they know Wendy would want a party. We along with friends will be with Wendy in the wee hours of the morning. Those special friends in California are placing candles and flowers and saying some prayers where Wendy's life was taken. The only thing I can think to ask of you is to go through this time as Wendy would want you to do – sleep late, be with friends, go to a party, have an intelligent conversation with someone, don't hang up your clothes, paint or draw a picture or whatever creative art you pursue, write a poem (or an ode), watch an old, favorite movie, smile, laugh, cry, read an Archie comicbook, take a drive, sit on a hill overlooking the water and read a good book or write, take a hottub (naked, of course), have a jack and coke, B-52, or a buttery nipple (Karen made me one of those and they are good!) – or whatever your choice of refreshment and, perhaps most of all, dare to dream! There has to be one more idea of what you would like to be some day that you have not considered before! How I miss her phone calls with her next "career choice". In 22 years, I do not think she missed considering many fields. The amazing fact was always that she had the abilities to pursue all of them. In essence, Wendy would want you to do whatever gets your through the day and brings you peace. She would very much like that you think of her often and all that she left each and every one of us with. I cannot tell you how much your support means to us! We know the courage it takes to reach out and support those who are in pain. We know it is not always easy to be with us. Your comments, your calls, your posted messages, your visits, your shared memories of Wendy and especially your hugs all help to sustain us. Nothing will ever give justification or meaning to Wendy's loss by a senseless act of violence. However, I do know that Wendy would want each and every one of you to go on and find happy and successful lives. As you visit her resting place, read the note inscribed on her stone (which was just placed last week). Wendy wrote this as part of one of her last writings –and she has left a note for each of you. Please also remember those dear to her and to us who are with her – her cousin, Debbie and now my parents. If you can, launch a balloon this weekend in their memory.
